An intra-community VAT number is a tax identification number that a company subject to VAT of a EU member state needs in order to trade with another company subject to VAT of a different EU member state.
Intra-community VAT numbers are used to charge VAT within the EU, but they also allow exemption from VAT when invoicing. To exempt VAT from the invoice, your intra-community VAT number and ours have to be shown on the invoice. Remember that it is essential that your business is located in the European Union.
Before an invoice is exempt from VAT, we have to ensure that you are a taxable entity in a EU member state. Moreover, if your intra-community VAT number is invalid, you have to apply for a certificate to your state revenue agency.
Please visit the website of the European Taxation and Customs Union to check the validity of your intra-community VAT number.
